Blount holds memorial for officers killed on duty
Officers in Blount County killed in the line of duty were
honored during a annual public memorial service Tuesday morning at Victory Baptist Church in
Maryville. Blount County Circuit Court Judge Tammy Harrington served as the keynote speaker, while
Blount County Chief Deputy Ron Dunn, Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp and Alcoa Police
Administrative Captain Phillip Dunn read the names of the fallen officers, and the Honor Guard of
the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and Maryville Police Departments presented the colors and

Six charged in meth lab bust
Six people were charged in connection with an active
methamphetamine lab that was found at a residence on Wildwood Road in Maryville Sunday evening.
Deputies and investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force went inside the home, they found
an active meth lab in the basement and smoke was present inside. The residence was cleared and
vented, and immediately the Blount County Fire Department and Rural/Metro Ambulance Service, who

Monroe man charged with taking meth precursors
A Tellico Plains man was arrested Monday for shoplifting
precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
Ronald Clifford Best, 33, was charged with promoting the manufacture of meth. He is being held in
the Blount County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bond pending a May 23 court

Woman, teen charged with assaulting, robbing man
A Louisville woman and a male juvenile were arrested last
Thursday for assaulting an elderly Rockford man and robbing him last Wednesday. The victim,
identified as 86-year-old James Triplett of White Pine Lane, was sawing wood at a residence on
Williams Mill Road in Alcoa, when a juvenile male hit him in the back of the head with what was
described as a three-foot green pole and stole his wallet. Tiffany Shea Dalton, 21, of Dresden Way,
